Project Info:

Brandenburg completed the demolition and environmental remediation of the main hospital buildings including Parrish Medical Plaza which closed in 2002, returning approximately 12.5 acres to green space. Brandenburg performed asbestos abatement, universal/ special waste handling and disposal, and removal of PCB ballasts. Skid steer loaders were used on the interior upper floors to remove the debris within the structures. Elevator shafts were used as chutes and the waste was separated by commodity. Materials were either loaded as waste, stockpiled to be crushed or shipped to an appropriate recycling facility. Brandenburg utilized its fleet of excavators to perform the structural demolition of the 700,000 square foot multistory buildings, ranging from one to six stories and an eight foot deep basement. Concrete slabs and foundations were removed, and final site restoration was performed. Local charities were pleased with Brandenburg’s recycling efforts of office supplies. These charities were benefactors of supplies that otherwise would have been sent to a landfill. The contract was completed utilizing over 22,000 man-hours and sustained zero injuries.
